Gina Glendinning

Wakefield, South Leeds, York and Harrogate
Merry Maids partner since February 2018

After a long career in banking, Gina was looking for an investment of her own, a business which allowed for a better work/life balance. With years of her hard work benefitting others, Gina now enjoys the rewards which come with running her own business. For her, the best thing about Merry Maids is simple, the customers.

Amandip Bahia

Stratford, Warwick and Leamington Spa
Merry Maids partner since October 2017

Formerly a Project Manager, Amandip hadn’t considered a cleaning business until Merry Maids caught his attention. For him, seeing instant reward when the business grows is one of the best things about being a Merry Maids franchise owner.

Gary Rolfe

Kingston Upon Thames
Merry Maids partner since March 2017

After 16 years as Gaming Director at The Ritz Casino, Merry Maids was no gamble for Gary. Research was key to him settling on the right franchise venture. His energy and enthusiasm for the business have certainly tipped the odds in his favour.

Tom Jackson

Solihull, Dudley, South Birmingham and Wolverhampton
Merry Maids partner since April 2003

After years of managing other people’s businesses, Tom was eager to use that experience to his own benefit. Being target driven, he enjoys the friendly competition between Merry Maids business owners and eagerly awaits the monthly franchisee league table.

Nicky Morris

Preston, Fylde and Blackpool
Merry Maids partner since January 2011

Nicky knew first hand that good, reliable cleaners are hard to find, so when looking for a business opportunity, Merry Maids just made sense.

The best bit for Nicky – being the decision maker and implementing her own ideas.

Bill Grant

Inverness
Merry Maids partner since December 2007

From speed boats to cleaning services isn’t an obvious transition, but for Bill, Merry Maids simply “ticked all the boxes.” Bill highly values the communication between likeminded business owners in the network.

Your Customers

Whilst you’ll have many customer types including elderly, families, professionals and students, all of your customers will perceive your services as essential to them.

Whether your customers are unable to, or simply don’t want to clean, our customers choose us for many reasons, with the most common being that our brand is established, reputable and reliable.

Merry Maids customers are accustomed to high standards of domestic cleaning and enjoy our services on a weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly or one-off basis. For that reason, our franchise owners benefit from regular, recurring income, with an added boost through extra one-off cleans when required.

Repeat custom and recommendations are the bread and butter of our business model. If you take care of your customers, they’ll take care of you.

Let’s talk…

The Domestic Cleaning Market

Today’s most precious commodity is time – which makes for a fantastic potential marketplace – the domestic cleaning market is worth an estimated £55.5bn in the UK!

Technology – with advances in technology, it has never been easier for consumers to book their cleaning services. Finding and hiring a reputable cleaner has been made simple through online facilitation. With the help of Google, ecommerce services and various review platforms at the consumer’s fingertips, it has become quick and easy to hire the right cleaning provider in just a few clicks. Merry Maids are proud to be one of the first providers of ecommerce for domestic cleaning services.

Millennials leading the demand – Did you know that 40% of those aged 25-34 either employed the services of a cleaner or were looking to do so. Why? Read on…

Putting greater value on free time – Research suggests that only 50% of individuals set aside time each week to clean their home. Time is a highly valuable commodity and we are certain that our customers would much rather be doing the things they love, rather than cleaning their home.

Increase in working from home – It may sound odd but it is expected that the increase in people working from home will actually create even further demand for home cleaning services. Why? Put simply, if you’re spending more time at home, there is added mess and dirt BUT a greater need and want for the place where you’re spending the majority of your time to be clean and tidy.

Growth in disposable income – With household disposable income on the rise, it’s no wonder that based on all of the factors above, cleaning services are no longer an extravagant luxury but an affordable way to free up time and improve lifestyle. Why wouldn’t you?

What You Need

To be a successful Merry Maids business owner, you will need discipline to follow a proven business model and the drive and ambition to prosper in a competitive market.

Communication and organisation skills are essential in building both a team and a customer base. Our most successful franchisees possess these skills in abundance.

As experience is not necessary, you will need to be open to learning about your new vocation to build up your sector, brand and business knowledge.

The Merry Maids franchise is a full-time commitment, as such, you’ll need to dedicate much of your time to the business in the early days to build a solid structure to foster a strong culture for growth.

With up to 100% finance available to many (subject to status), financing your new venture could not be more affordable. You do need to be financially secure whilst your business finds its feet in the early days, meaning that you can reap the financial benefits in the future.
